About Our Career Development Training
Horizon Point Instructors are certified through the National Career Development Association (NCDA). NCDA offers the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Training and Certification Program, as well as the School Career Development Advisor (SCDA) Training and Certification Program. Both programs provide practitioners with relevant skills and knowledge to assist others in planning careers and obtaining meaningful work. Our NCDA-approved instructors deliver the training in three approved formats: in-person, virtual, or hybrid.
Upon completion of a FCD or SCDA training program, practitioners are eligible to apply for credentials. The National Career Development Association offers the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential, Certified School Career Development Advisor (CSCDA) credential, and others depending on education and experience levels. Additionally, the Center for Credentialing and Education offers the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) credential.
CCSP – The application fee is $100*, and there is an annual maintenance fee of $40. This credential application includes an assessment. Credential holders must attain a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education over a 3-year period in order to recertify.
Based on education and experience requirements, participants may be also eligible to apply for the Certified Career Counselor (CCC) credential and/or the Certified School Career Development Advisor (CSCDA) also offered through NCDA.
*Completers of Horizon Point’s FCD and/or SCDA Training are eligible to pursue the CCSP credential at no cost.
GCDF – The application fee is $100, and there is an annual maintenance fee of $40. Credential holders must attain a minimum of 75 hours of continuing education over a 5-year period in order to recertify.
In addition to the option for participants to gain these credentials, Horizon Point is an approved PLU provider through the Alabama Council for Leadership Development (ACLD) enabling education leaders to meet their PLU requirements and ensure Educator Effectiveness standards.
